Voters must back EU Reform Treaty, says McCreevy
Ireland's EU Commission, Charlie McCreevy, claims Irish voters must support the EU Reform Treaty to protect the country's standing in Europe.
Ireland is the only country holding a referendum on the treaty, which is designed to introduce most aspects of the EU Constitution rejected by French and Dutch voters a number of years ago.
Speaking in Dublin today, Mr McCreevy claimed Ireland would be "the laughing stock of all of Europe" if voters rejected the document because the country had benefited greatly from EU funds.
