Dáil to debate motion of no confidence in Harney
Minister for Health Mary Harney is facing one of the toughest periods of her political career as the Dáil prepares to debate a motion of no confidence in her handling of the health service.
The motion has been tabled by the Labour Party in light of the cancer misdiagnosis scandal at Portlaoise Hospital.
Fine Gael and Sinn Féin have promised to support the motion and Labour is also calling on the Independent TDs who support the Government to vote in favour.
However, the motion will still be defeated due to the Government's comfortable Dail majority.
Reports this morning say all Fianna Fáil TDs have been ordered to vote for Ms Harney or face expulsion from the party.
