Bad drugs batch leaves two seriously ill

Two people were seriously ill in hospital today after a suspected bad batch of drugs were taken at a birthday party.

Gardaí are warning all persons who attended the 21st birthday celebration in Ballybeg Square, Waterford, who feel nauseous or unwell to seek immediate medical attention at Waterford Regional Hospital.

A number of people were taken to hospital after the party and at least two are believed to be in a serious condition.

"Any person who needs to contact Waterford Regional Hospital should also contact Waterford Garda Station," said a garda spokeswoman.

"The gardaí urgently need to speak with any person who attended this party at any time last night."
