97 more women recalled for cancer tests
The HSE has revealed that at least 97 more women are to be recalled for more tests amid the cancer misdiagnosis scandal at Portlaoise Hospital.
Thousands of mammograms have already been reviewed, with nine women being informed that they have breast cancer despite originally being given the all-clear.
Speaking to the Oireachtas Health Committee today, HSE official John O'Brien revealed that 568 ultrasounds performed in Portlaoise are now being re-examined as part of the inquiry into the scandal.
Almost 300 have been reviewed so far and 97 women have been recalled for a fresh examination.
