Ireland's first civil marriage outside a registry office takes place this afternoon in Co Kerry.

Fergus Burke and Michelle Owens, from Dunkettle in Cork, are getting married at the Cahernane House Hotel in Killarney.

The ceremony follows the recent relaxation of the legislation that previously limited civil marriages to registry offices.

The new rules allow such marriages to take place in any building approved by the HSE.
