Waterford Wedgewood confirms job cuts

Waterford Wedgwood has confirmed plans to lay off a significant number of workers as part of a restructuring process.

The announcement was made at the launch of the company's interim results today.

There is speculation that as many as 500 jobs will be shed at the Waterford glass plant.
