Drumm defends running of HSE amid cancer scandal

Professor Brendan Drumm is defending his running of the Health Service Executive amid the cancer diagnosis crisis in Portlaoise.

The HSE boss was grilled on the matter this morning during his annual briefing to TDs and Senators at Leinster House.

However, speaking afterwards, he insisted that he was managing the system well.

He reiterated that the Portlaoise scandal was caused by the fact that cancer services are not centralised in specialist locations.
