Opposition parties today rounded on the Government after new figures revealed unemployment has reached its highest level in four years.

Around 165,000 people, or 4.8% of the population, claimed job seekers' benefit in October – a peak not recorded since July 2003 – according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO) Live Register.
