Trawler Maggie B raised from seabed off Hook Head

The sunken trawler Maggie B has been raised from the seabed off the south-east coast this morning following a night-long operation.

The vessel sank off Hook Head in March 2006, claiming the lives of skipper Glynn Cott, from Ballycotton in Co Cork, and Polish crewman Jan Sankowski.

It was raised this morning using a crane aboard a barge and efforts are now underway to re-float the trawler.

The crane will then be used to raise a second vessel, the Pere Charles, which sank in the same area last January with the loss of five lives.
