Fire cuts power to 15,000 Dublin homes
Up to 15,000 homes in Dublin were without power today after a blaze at an electricity sub-station.
The early morning fire at the hub in Clondalkin forced ESB to cut the supply to houses in the area.
Firefighters were still at the scene in the centre of the village, in the west of the city, several hours after the blaze was first noticed around 6.30am.
ESB spokesman Kevin McDermott said: “There is in excess of 10,000 homes affected – between 10,000 and 15,000.
“We are trying to bring them back power through other networks in the city.
“It will take a few hours.”
