Airport braced for bank holiday boom

More than 280,000 passengers are expected to travel through Dublin Airport during the bank holiday weekend, an 8% increase on 2006.

Over 2,000 flights will arrive and depart during this period including 100 charter aircraft to sun destinations such as Malaga, Lanzarote and Las Palmas.

The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) advised passengers to arrive at check-in at least 90 minutes before their flight departure time.

The DAA also reminded passengers about the EU aviation security regulations on liquids.

A spokesperson added: “Once again passengers are reminded to remove all sharp objects from hand luggage. These objects should be packed into checked in luggage, in addition, all laptop computers must be removed from their outer casing for security screening.

“Dublin Airport will have customer care teams on duty this bank holiday weekend.

“Dressed in bright pink polo shirts they are there to assist passengers through the terminal building.”
