Ireland is one of 24 Council of Europe members to sign a new Convention on the Protection of Children.

It aims to prevent and combat sexual exploitation and sexual abuse; and protect the rights of child victims who experience exploitation or abuse.

It also promotes national and international cooperation against sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of children.
