Republicans were not behind killing, says Adams

Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has insisted that republicans were not behind the killing of Paul Quinn in Co Monaghan on Saturday evening.

The 21-year-old died after being lured to a farm in Oram and savagely beaten in a paramilitary-style punishment attack.

His family is blaming members of the Provisional IRA, saying he had recently become embroiled in a dispute with known republicans in south Armagh.

However, Mr Adams has insisted that those responsible were criminals, not republicans, and that people should not play politics with the killing.
