Irish households urged to cut down energy consumption
Irish households account for almost a quarter of the energy used in this country and are being encouraged to take steps to reduce this figure.
Today marks the end of an energy makeover challenge for eight families from across Ireland, who managed to cut up to €900 a year off their bills by making changes around the home.
Aodhan MacPhaidin, of the "Power of One" campaign, said it is easy to save energy and money by making sure doors and windows are closed and not overheating the house, and turning off lights and appliances when not in use.
