Fourth person held in connection with Galway murder

Gardaí in Galway have arrested a fourth person in connection with the murder of Swiss teenager Manuela Riedo in the city last week.

The man is being questioned at Loughrea Garda Station, but no further details have been disclosed about his arrest.

Earlier, two men and a woman were detained in Galway as part of a planned operation just after 7am.

They are all in their 20s and from the city.

One is understood to have been held on suspicion of murder and the others on suspicion of withholding information.

Manuela Riedo's body was found on waste ground near Lake Attalia in Galway last week, just days after she arrived in Ireland to study English.

A post mortem examination revealed the 17-year-old had been strangled to death.
