Man held after woman's death

A man has been arrested after a young woman died in Co Tipperary, gardaí said today.

Gardaí were called to a house in Ballynamuddagh, near Grange, outside Clonmel, shortly after 12.30am.

A man and a 20-year-old woman were found there with serious injuries and taken to hospital, where the woman later died, according to the Garda Press Office.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested and is being detained at Cahir Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The scene has been preserved for an examination by Garda technical experts.
