A new children's charity is calling on Irish companies to give 4% of their profits every year to charitable and social causes.

United for Children, which was officially launched in Dublin this morning, brings together four existing charities working on behalf of youngsters, including the Jack and Jill Foundation and To Russia With Love.

The founders say they hope the merger will give them more fundraising clout with the business sector.
