No airline lined up to run Shannon-Heathrow services

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, has told the Dáil that no airline has been lined up to replace Aer Lingus flights from Shannon to Heathrow.

There were heated exchanges during questions on the matter in the House this morning.

Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmore accused Mr Ahern of abandoning people and businesses in the Limerick and Clare region.

He said it was wrong that Aer Lingus would fly people from Shannon to Disneyland in the US, but could not provide a link for people wanting to do business through Heathrow.
