Gardaí continue search for lone gunman after Friday shooting

Investigations continue into this weekend's double shooting in south Dublin.

Two men were killed in the attack in the Walkinstown area of the city on Friday night.

This latest gangland killing is being described by Gardaí as a vicious and callous attack.

The victims, 40-year-old Brian Downes from Tallaght and 24-year-old Eddie Ward from Clondalkin, were gunned down at a garage on the Greenhills Road just before 10 o'clock on Friday night.

A post mortem on the victims is expected to be completed later today.

Gardaí are hunting for a lone gunman who escaped on a motorbike.

Anyone who may have been in the area at the time is asked to contact Crumlin Garda Station.

Justice Minister Brian Lenihan has said that will meet with senior Gardaí to see if extra resources are needed for this investigation.
