Gormley can’t stop M3 route but promises to protect monuments

The Minister for the Environment, John Gormley has again defended himself against criticism by the Hill of Tara campaigners.

The Minister for the Environment, John Gormley has again defended himself against criticism by the Hill of Tara campaigners.

He has come under fire for not attempting to have the new M3 motorway re-routed away from the historic site.

He claims it's not within his power to change an order made by his predecessor, Dick Roche.

However, Minister Gormley said he will do everything he can to preserve the national monuments in the area.
