Police appeal to mother of baby found dead in Co Down

The mother of a newborn baby boy found dead in Co Down seven years ago is being urged to come forward by the PSNI.

The infant's body was found in a shallow grave in a wooded area known as the Old Gasworks, off the Portaferry Road.

The PSNI says it wants to establish what happened to the baby and is promising to treat the mother with compassion if she comes forward.
