Man held in port swoop on drug lorry
A man was arrested today after Customs officials seized a large haul of cannabis at one of the country’s main ports.
Just over 46kg (101lb) of the drug was recovered at Rosslare Harbour from a vehicle arriving off a ferry from Cherbourg in northern France this morning.
The stash, hidden behind the dashboard of the Spanish-registered vehicle, is believed to have a street value of around €324,800.
The Revenue Customs Service’s sniffer dog Dillion located the drugs during the operation.
A Spanish national in his late 20s was arrested and is being questioned by gardaí.
The seizure was a result of risk profiling by Customs officers.
