Campaigners vow to keep up pressure over Shannon
Campaigners in the west of the country say they will continue their bid to get Aer Lingus to reverse its decision to end services between Shannon and Heathrow.
The Atlantic Connectivity Alliance says it was disappointed by the defeat of a Dail motion last night calling on the Government to intervene and reverse the decision.
The Government has already refused to do so.
The alliance says, despite the defeat, it will not be deterred in its resolve to get the Aer Lingus decision overturned.
An opinion poll this morning shows that a large majority of people in both Dublin and the west of the country disagree with the decision and believe it will be bad for the country as a whole.
