FG to table motion of no confidence in Taoiseach today
Fine Gael has decided to press ahead with tabling a motion of no confidence in the Taoiseach when the Dáil resumes after the summer recess this afternoon.
Party leader Enda Kenny has already said he does not believe the evidence Bertie Ahern gave to the Mahon Tribunal in recent weeks.
The Labour Party has also called on Mr Ahern to resign over his failure to adequately explain large sums of money that passed through his bank accounts in the 1990s.
However, the Green Party has come out in support of the Taoiseach, meaning today's motion is certain to be defeated by the Government.
