'Trial pregancy' girls to speak at Contraception Day launch

A group of teenage girls who experienced a "trial period" as a parent looking after a virtual baby for three days will today speak at the Irish launch of World Contraception Day.

Taking place tomorrow with events around the globe, it is an international awareness campaign aimed at reducing the high level of unplanned pregnancies and improving the level of sex education.

This year's theme is Live Your Life Before You Start Another.

It will encourage young people aged 17-25 to make an informed choice about parenthood at a time that is right for them.

Speakers at today's launch include Rosie Toner, Director of Pregnancy Counselling Services with the Irish Family Planning Association and Dr Brendan Clune of the Dublin Institute of Technology Student Health Service.
