Gardaí investigate murders
Gardaí are today continuing to probe two separate murders in counties Longford and Tipperary.
The body a 37-year-old woman was found in an unoccupied house at around 9pm on Saturday night, in Great Waters Street, Longford Town.
A post mortem examination carried out yesterday at Mullingar General Hospital revealed the woman died as a result of asphyxiation.
It is understood she was from the area and a mother of two young children.
Her name is not being released by gardai at the request of her family.
A 28-year-old man meanwhile was being questioned last night by officers after the discovery of a body in Co Tipperary.
A murder investigation was launched yesterday morning after the remains of a 45-year-old man were found in a house at Carrigeen, Clonmel, shortly after 2.30am.
The scene was preserved for a full forensic examination.
The arrested man was being questioned at Clonmel Garda Station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.
