Demand delays opening of emergency primary school
The opening of an emergency primary school in north Dublin has been delayed because the facility cannot with the demand for places.
The Bracken Educate Together School in Balbriggan was set up as a result of a serious shortage of primary places in the area.
It was due to open on Monday to cater for just over 30 children, but around three times that number has applied.
Plans are now being made to expand the service and the opening has been delayed in the meantime.
The Irish National Teacher's Organisation says the situation highlights a major problem in the education system and a failure to properly plan for the future.
