Aer Lingus and pilots to resume talks

Aer Lingus management and representatives from the pilots union resume discussions at the Labour Relations Commission later today.

The row centres on whether the Irish Airline Pilots' Association branch of Impact should have a role in negotiating the pay and conditions for pilots recruited at the airline's new Belfast base.

The trade union, IMPACT says that pay and conditions offered to the Belfast pilots are not equal to that of their southern counterparts.

However, the airline says it is not receptive to union involvement in talks regarding pilots outside the Republic.

Both parties have been requested not to comment on the situation by the Labour Relations Commission.
