Govt accept Lab court ruling on promotion conditions
The Government has said it accepts a Labour Court recommendation preventing training agency FAS from making decentralising staff a condition of promotion.
The Tánaiste Brian Cowen issued a statement this afternoon saying the policy of relocating civil servants remains part of the Programme for Government.
He says it's now up to relevant state bodies to implement the ruling with their parent government departments, and that trade unions are entitled to be consulted.
FAS workers staged a number of work stoppages in Dublin last year in protest at decentralisation being linked to promotions.
