Protestors take fight to save Shannon-Heathrow link to EU
The fight to retain the Shannon-Heathrow link will be taken to the EU and through the courts if necessary.
The Atlantic Connectivity Alliance has warned that its battle to have Aer Lingus abandon its decision to axe the Shannon Heathrow service is only just beginning.
The airline's Dermot Mannion told local politicians and business leaders during a visit to Shannon yesterday that the decision to discontinue the service will not be changed.
Alliance Chairman John Brassil plans to have the carrier rescind its decision.
Meanwhile, as many as 5,000 people braved the elements in Shannon last night to participate in a protest march in opposition to the loss of the Heathrow slots
The march was organised by the Shannon Action Group, which is made up of a group of Aer Lingus employees from the airport.
