Hanafin denies crisis in maths and science

Minister for Education Mary Hanafin has denied that there is a crisis in relation to maths and science subjects in Irish schools.

Leaving Cert results out today show continuing high failure rates in such subjects, which are regarded as important to Ireland's efforts to brand itself as a knowledge-based economy.
