A junior Cabinet minister vowed today to rally senior Government colleagues to heap pressure on Aer Lingus to reinstate its Shannon to Heathrow service.

But Minister of State Tony Killeen signalled that an alternative solution may now be necessary to ease the crisis gripping the midwest after the transfer of the routes to Belfast.
