Dundalk-Newry link road opens to traffic this morning
The final stretch of dual carriageway linking Dublin to the border with the North is due to open to traffic this morning.
The 14km road links the M1 motorway just north of Dundalk with the A1 Newry bypass in the North.
The road, which is opening four months ahead of schedule, will allow motorists to drive at motorway speeds of 120km/h all the way from the M50 to the border.
Foreign Affairs Minister Dermot Ahern and the North's Regional Development Minister, Conor Murphy, will officiate at the opening of the €150m scheme, which is part of a cross-border project to eventually link Dublin and Belfast with continuous dual carriageway.
