Investigations are continuing into the causes of two separate light aircraft crashes in Co Kerry and Co Kildare yesterday.

Investigations are continuing into the causes of two separate light aircraft crashes in Co Kerry and Co Kildare yesterday.

A pilot in his fifties lost his life in the Co Kerry crash when his plane came down in a field near the village of Ardfert at around 4.30pm.

He was performing an aerial display before the crash and anyone with film or photos of the plane is being urged to come forward to air accident investigators.

Meanwhile, another pilot escaped unharmed after being forced to crash land his light aircraft on a road in Co Kildare shortly after taking off at Kilrush airfield.
