Pilgrims warned to take care on wet Croagh Patrick climb

Mayo Mountain Rescue has warned those taking part in tomorrow's Croagh Patrick pilgrimage to be prepared for treacherous conditions.

More than 20,000 people are expected to climb Mayo's holy mountain for the annual Reek Sunday pilgrimage.

This year’s wetter than usual summer has resulted in dangerous underfoot conditions and with more rain forecast for tomorrow people are being warned to wear appropriate clothes and footwear.
