Diver rescued after getting into difficulty off coast in Down

A diver has been rescued after getting into difficulty in the sea off Co Down last night.

A diver has been rescued after getting into difficulty in the sea off Co Down last night.

The alarm was raised at around 8pm after the diver was forced to come to the surface quickly off Ballyhornan.

A lifeboat and paramedic team went to the scene after receiving a mayday call and a Dublin-based coastguard helicopter was later dispatched to airlift he man to hospital.

He was taken to a decompression chamber on the Isle of Man suffering from problems linked to his speedy surfacing.
