Average household spending up 36% in recent years

Average spending by Irish households is up more than one-third in the past five years, according to the Central Statistics Office.

In its latest Household Budget Survey, the CSO says households spent an average of almost €800 every week in 2004-2005, up 36% on the last assessment in 1999-2000.
