PD advisory group to decide on Seanad nominations

Progressive Democrats leader Mary Harney has appointed an internal advisory group to recommend who her nominees to the Seanad should be.

Under a deal agreed with Fianna Fáil and the Greens, the PDs are entitled to two of the Taoiseach's 11 nominations to the 60-seat upper house.

Ms Harney has appointed a three-person body to choose the two candidates based on who has the best chance of being elected to the Dáil next time.
