GOAL boss blasts EU attitude to Darfur

GOAL chief executive John O'Shea has blasted the international community over its attitude to the Darfur region of Sudan.

He claims the EU is afraid to defy China and send troops in to ease the major humanitarian crisis in Sudan.

The criticism comes as the EU announces plans to send up to 3,000 soldiers to the African state of Chad in order to protect refugees from neighbouring Darfur.

An estimated 400,000 displaced people are living in camps in eastern Chad.

Despite welcoming the EU move in Chad, the GOAL chief is accusing the international community of failing to tackle the main issue of the conflict in Darfur.
