Pedestrian bridge reopened in Leenane, Co Galway
Galway County Council has opened a pedestrian bridge in Leenane following the collapse of the village's main bridge on Wednesday.
The council has reconstructed the pedestrian bridge that was originally attached to the main arched stone structure, which collapsed earlier this week.
However, some motorists are still facing an 80-mile round-trip if travelling from Westport to Connemara as the main bridge remains impassable due to flood damage.
The council is hoping to have a new temporary bridge in place within two weeks.
