Prison guards discuss Cloverhill strike

The Prison Officers' Association (POA) is meeting today to discuss possible industrial action at Cloverhill Prison in Dublin.

Staff at the prison voted to strike if nothing is done to stop attacks by inmates.

The POA says violence in the country's jails is growing in frequency and intensity.

The Association is demanding measures to ensure the safety of its members and wants an agreement on the matter with the Prison Service.

Warden representatives are meeting today to discuss what form of industrial action to take if management does not take the issue seriously.
