Police in North slam unsolved-murder funding
The North's Policing Board has criticised the lack of resources available to the PSNI team inquiring into more than 300 unsolved murders during the Troubles.
The board said it is unsatisfactory that the British government is not prepared to adequately fund the Historical Enquiries Team.
The 200-strong team of detectives was set up at the beginning of last year and has been working since then with a budget of £30m (€44.5m).
However, it is rapidly running out of money.
The Policing Board wrote to the British Government six months ago seeking more money, but received a blunt response that no additional resources will be available.
The Board's chairman says he will raise the matter with the British minister responsible as a matter of urgency.
