Girl awaits new transplant after body rejects liver
A Co Armagh family are back on tenterhooks again after their little girl's body rejected her new liver.
Erin Nicks, aged two years eight months, is back on the transplant waiting list after undergoing an 11-hour operation in Birmingham, England, two years ago.
She was healthy when born, but after six weeks, blood tests picked up a problem with her liver.
The prognosis had been good after her new liver was accepted by her body for a year, but she then became unwell in February this year.
Erin and her family, who are from the south Armagh village of Whitecross, flew back to Birmingham last week.
Her father Nick says they are back where they were two years ago and are hoping somebody in their grief will be generous enough to donate their organs.
