President to attend funeral of John Wilson in Dublin
The funeral of former Tánaiste John Wilson takes place in the Churchtown area of Dublin this morning.
Mr Wilson died on Monday, just hours after celebrating his 84th birthday.
He was first elected as a Fianna Fail TD for Cavan in 1973 and went on to hold six ministerial portfolios before serving as Tánaiste between 1990 and 1992, when he retired from politics.
His most recent job was as a commissioner tasked with trying to locate the bodies of the disappeared.
President McAleese will be among the mourners today at the Church of the Good Shepherd, while the Taoiseach will be represented by his Aide-de-Camp.
