FG's Mitchell hits out at estate agents and lenders

Fine Gael's Gay Mitchell has hit out at estate agents and mortgage lenders for raising expectations of house price increases during the past year.

The MEP said forecasts earlier this year that house prices would increase by as much as 10% have led to people taking out mortgages that they cannot now repay because of rising interest rates.
