Fifteen children have been taken to hospital after their boats capsized this afternoon off the Dublin coast.

More than 100 children were rescued from the sea off Dun Laoghaire after 91 boats capsized during a children's regatta.

More than 110 vessels were involved in the event.

It is understood that sudden strong winds caused the boats to capsize at around two o'clock this afternoon.

All of the children were wearing life jackets.

Finn Murphy, 14, describes what it was like for him to witness what was happening, although he was not in danger.

Press officer David Branigan at the RNLI lifeboat station Dun Laoghaire gives an account of the day's events.
