12-year-old boy killed in Laois crash

A child was killed in a traffic incident in Co Laois this afternoon.

A child was killed in a traffic incident in Co Laois this afternoon.

It is understood the 12-year-old boy was knocked down by a truck in Mountrath, outside the Bank of Ireland on the town's Main Street at around 3.30pm.

His body has been taken to Portlaoise Hospital.
