Suspicious packages recovered from water off Co Cork

Dozens of suspicious packages have been pulled from the sea where rescuers are searching for a man missing off the west Cork coast this afternoon.

The missing man is one of three young English nationals who were on an inflatable dinghy that capsized around a mile from shore between Mizen Head and Three Castles Head some time this morning.

One man swam to shore and raised the alarm and a second was later rescued from the water.

Eyewitnesses say at least 50 suspicious packages have also been recovered from the water by the coastguard.

They also say there is a large garda presence in the area.
