June among the wettest on record

Last month was one of the wettest Junes on record with parts of the country hit by freak storms seen only once every 50 years, forecasters said today.

In the whole four weeks, we only enjoyed one brief seven-day stretch of sun with sudden downpours ruining virtually every other day.
