Elderly man dies after being pulled from Galway canal

An elderly man has died after apparently falling into a canal in Galway city yesterday afternoon.

The man was spotted in the water at the lock gates on Dominick Street by a passer by.

He was rescued and brought to University College Hospital, where he died this morning.
